Apple seeks government help to Make in India

Apple, the maker of iPhones, has sought assurance and policy support from the government for its manufacturing plans in India.

In a presentation made to an inter-ministerial group on Wednesday, the Cupertino, California-based company sought clarity on the policy for bringing in second-hand products, which are currently barred in India.

The hour-long presentation made by Priya Balasubramaniam, Apple’s vice president for operations, and five company executives, will now be deliberated and examined by government departments including revenue, industry, environment & forests and the electronics and IT ministry.
