The Hyderabad Metro rail project has been facing criticism over the years for its slow progress. The prestigious project had started in the joint Telugu state. The state has been split and even three years went by. But, the Hyderabad Metro Rail did not see the light yet. And there have been as many reasons for it as the death of karna had.
However, it is now expected that Metro is going to be rolled out very soon. A date in November this year is almost fixed, say sources. Chief Minister KCR has reportedly written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming him for its inauguration. A positive response from the Prime Minister is awaited now.
The criticism of ‘Metro Rail in Hyderabad has been that it is not as beneficial as it is being said. In this backdrop, KCR government has not been willing to start a half-built project. Thus, the Metro Rail inauguration has been getting postponed. Some bitter events have also occurred in the construction of the project as well.
Vehicles falling in to the potholes near the project works, some equipments falling from the top, injuring the passengers on the road as well as the workers and collisions with the metro pillars leading to deaths. Also, the motorists in the city have suffered traffic difficulties in all these years since the beginning of the project. Once the metro train begins, hopefully, all of those problems will end.
But, the question is, can the existing public transport connect well with the Metro or not? Otherwise, the problem will even get more complicated. Along with the availability of the Metro, the city roads, which have been worse effected by the project, need to get better as soon as possible. Are the city administrators ready to take up the challenge?
