Jagan detained at Airport

YSR Congress Party leader Jagan Mohan Reddy, along with two of his party MPs and other leaders, was detained at the Visakhapatnam airport on Thursday evening while he is on the way to participate in candle rally in support of the agitating youth and his party cadre for demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh. As the Opposition made his intention known that he would head for the Ramakrishna beach here to lead a silent, candle light rally seeking special category status to Andhra Pradesh the police did not allow him to come out of the airport.

Y.S Jagan landed was told by the police that no rally would be allowed on the beach road or anywhere in Visakhapatnam, as the Republic Day was being observed and also the two-day CII partnership summit was scheduled to begin on Friday morning. .

Y.S Jagan sat on the runway against the police not allowing him to participate and the other YSR Congress leders refused to budge from the runway and they were forced after sometime to go near the arrival lounge.

Several YSR Congress party leaders were taken into preventive custody in the city, as they were heading to receive their Leader. Right from the morning, there was heavy deployment of the police, blocking entry to the beach road, and only the residents were allowed near the beach. Several youths and other activists were taken into preventive custody to foil the proposed protest rallies.
